For the past 15 years, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to travel the world as a culture and history lecturer on cruise ships alongside my husband. It’s been an amazing journey, allowing us to explore some of the most exotic and beautiful places on earth, while also sharing our passion for culture and history with others.
One of the great perks of being a cruise ship lecturer is the bartering arrangement that we have with the cruise lines. We’re able to enjoy free cruises for ourselves and our spouses in exchange for making presentations on the places where the ships stop. It’s an amazing benefit that allows us to travel to places we might not have been able to afford otherwise.
But the best part of our job is the opportunity to share our love of culture and history with others. We spend weeks researching and preparing our presentations, ensuring that we have all the latest information and insights. And when we’re on board the ship, we love nothing more than engaging with our audience and sharing our knowledge with them.
Over the years, we’ve received great feedback and compliments from the cruise guests. Many have told us that our presentations have been the highlight of their trip, and that they’ve learned so much from us. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that we’re making a difference in people’s lives and helping them to appreciate the beauty and complexity of the world around us.
Of course, our job is not without its challenges. We have to constantly update our knowledge and be ready to adapt to new situations. And while the travel is exciting and fulfilling, it can also be exhausting at times. But overall, we feel incredibly grateful for this opportunity and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
As I celebrate another year of life, I’m grateful for the experiences that I’ve had and the people that I’ve met through my work as a cruise ship lecturer. I look forward to many more years of travel and learning and can’t wait to see where my next adventure takes me.
